UCHIZONO GALLERY My forty five year obsession with Native American jewelry began with a summer in Albuquerque when I was just a child. On a day trip to Santa Fe, the Indian market in the square showed me a world I never knew existed. I was fascinated by the turquoise jewelry. |
UCHIZONO GALLERY My Mother bought me my first bracelet that day. |
UCHIZONO GALLERY I was always drawn to the older pieces. Jewelry made between 1920 - 1930 has so much soul. The bracelets, rings and necklaces from this period seemed to be inspired by nature. The lack of precise measurement is part of the beauty. It reminds me of an impressionist oil painting, with lost and found edges and blurred lines. |
UCHIZONO GALLERY The random greens from the softer turquoise stones as they accepted oil from wearer is so intriguing and inspiring. I see pure joy when I look at this jewelry. |
